For families

Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 4, 2026. This explains what PowerPlay does with your family’s information.

This policy is for you

If you use the PowerPlay app or this website, this page tells you what we keep, what stays on your phone, and what we never do with your family’s information.

PowerPlay helps parents turn real steps into screen time. Kids walk. Those steps become Power Minutes. A smart plug turns the TV, Xbox, or PC on when they have minutes, and off when the time is gone.

Questions: mypowerplayapp@gmail.com

What stays on your phone

Your family’s PowerPlay data stays on the phone. We do not keep a cloud account of your child’s steps, location, or screen time.

On that phone, the app saves things like today’s steps, saved Power Minutes, minutes already used, unlocked achievements, the parent password, your plug addresses, bedtime hours, and the rules you set. Uninstall the app, or use Reset in Parent controls, and that information is gone from the phone.

Steps

PowerPlay needs today’s step count so it can turn walking into Power Minutes and unlock achievements. It asks permission to read activity on the phone. If you use a Fitbit, Samsung watch, or Garmin, it can read today’s steps from Google Health Connect instead. You pick Phone, Watch, or Auto in Parent controls.

We do not sell step data. We do not use steps for ads. We do not send step counts to our servers. If you say no to the permission, that step source will not work until you allow it.

Your smart plug

The app talks to the Shelly plug on your home Wi-Fi. You paste the plug’s address in Parent controls, and that address stays on the phone. On and off commands go to the plug in your house. We do not ask for your Wi-Fi password, and we do not send those commands to anyone else.

Kids

A parent should set up the app, choose the password, and control the plug. PowerPlay does not track where your child goes. It does not ask a child for a name, email, or photo.

We do not keep a child’s personal information in a cloud account. If a child sends us an email or joins the waitlist, write to mypowerplayapp@gmail.com and we will delete it.

This website

If you join the waitlist, we save the email you type so we can tell you when the app is ready or when something important changes. We do not sell that email. Ask us and we will remove it.

Paying for the app

Google Play handles the purchase. We do not see or store your card number. Google tells us only whether your subscription is active, so the app can stay unlocked.

Plug links

Some links to buy a Shelly plug are Amazon links. If you buy after tapping one, we may earn a commission. Amazon has its own privacy policy once you leave this site.

What we never do

We do not sell your information or your child’s steps. We do not put ads in the kid screens. We do not follow your child around town. We do not share your plug with other families.

How long we keep it

App data stays on the phone until you uninstall PowerPlay or reset it. A waitlist email stays until you ask us to delete it, or until we no longer need it to send launch notes.

Your choices

You can turn off step permission, change the parent password, clear the Power Minute bank, and uninstall the app at any time. To remove a waitlist email, write to mypowerplayapp@gmail.com.

If this page changes

If we change what we collect in an important way, we will update this page and the date at the top. Using the app or the site after that means you accept the updated policy.
